Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil:
in its worst state, an intolerable one.
(Thomas Paine)
THE PROBLEM
THE UK21 CHALLENGE
The form of government that has been evolved in the UK no longer meets society’s needs today, in the 21st century

We seem to have created a society in which many commercial concerns have as much power to affect our lives as does the government - in some cases, more - and where politicians seem to be disconnected from a society that has become so complex and fragmented that our present form of governance no longer works as it should.

Do you agree - or disagree? If you agree, you have three choices:

Get involved (see below - left)

Tell us what you think (see below - right)

Nothing.

The choice is yours.
To design a model of
Governance that is:

ACCOUNTABLE

WORKABLE

EFFICIENT

MEANWHILE . . .Brussels Laid Bare
UK21 is carrying out a special investigation which may be of interest.

A book called ‘Brussels Laid Bare’ written by Marta Andreasen was published in May 2009. Ms Andreasen was appointed Chief Accountant to the EU and started work in January 2002. She was then asked to sign off accounts which she believed to be inaccurate (at best) and possibly fraudulent (at worst). She refused. This refusal led to her being suspended and then dismissed. You need to read the book for full details. Clearly, taxpayers’ money - yours and mine - is being spent by the EU without proper supervision and may even be being misappropriated.

Question: is the protection of the UK taxpayers’ taxes one of the duties of our MP’s? If you agree that the answer is ‘yes’ then you will be interested in following this investigation. For further details click here. .

There are a number of ways of telling us what you think.
Our email address is mail@uk21.org.uk or you can use one of the contact forms. The one below is for comments of a general nature - please see the Contents Page for specific subjects. Each one carries a contact form which will route your comments to the right person.
GETTING INVOLVED

We need lots of people to help us get this idea off the ground. If you have some spare time and a deep interest in a given subject, please consider becoming a moderator or editor for that subject.

Moderators read incoming comments and are responsible for deciding what is posted on the web site and what is not.

Editors sum up the ideas put forward and write a ‘state of the subject’ report to provide a summary of the comments received. These are designed to make it easier to carry the debate forwards and avoid repetition.

Another option is to become a supporter. This involves you in very little work -just fill in the form to the right with the word ‘Support’ in the comments box and you will receive e-mail updates when appropriate. We would like to feel that you would forward these e-mails to all in your address book so as to spread the word.
If your comments are quoted, your e-mail address will not be made public.
